The list of MLS-based players at the FIFA World Cup seems to grow a little longer every four years, and that progression continues with 44 partaking in this summer’s tournament.
2023: Freese joined New York City FC in January, having featured in 16 games for Philadelphia, logging 1,334 minutes across all competitions.
2022: The shot-stopper started for Philadelphia Union II in MLS NEXT Pro, making 31 appearances, and accumulating six clean sheets.
2020: Recording a shutout on Decision Day against the New England Revolution, he helped the Union to clinch the 2020 Supporters Shield.
2018: The goalkeeper was signed by Philadelphia Union as a Homegrown player in December, and rose through the Academy ranks.
YOUTH
Freese's youth career began at Philadelphia Union Academy, before he played two seasons at Harvard University.
INTERNATIONAL
The American has represented the United States at U-19 and U-23 level.
